A CALL TO COMMITMENT
> We need a 9% increase in monetary giving just to support our present ministries
> We need a 15% to 20% increase in giving to implement new ministries
> We need approximately 35 % more people giving leadership than last year
Q: In what ways am I being a good steward of the gifts God has given me (my
skills/ talents, time, financial resources)?
A: It is my response. I am called by God. I have gifts
Q: Who are we and whose are we?
A: Scripture reminds us that we are God's both individually and as a community of faith. Whether individually or together our mission is to proclaim God's love that God has made known to us in Christ. As a people shaped by Christ's love, we are able to live life more fully, happily and abundantly, as God has intended for us.
Q: How shall we respond to God's love for us in Christ?
A: Our response is not rooted in a sense of guilt or obligation, but in response to God's grace and love. The Holy Spirit calls and leads us to be a means of grace and love in the world as God's gifts flow through us. So, we become a gift to others, not a consumer of ser- vices. As you consider how you will use your God given skills/talents, time and financial resources in the coming year begin with prayer.
Q: "Lord, what is it you want to do through me to fulfill your will for Ascension Lutheran?"
A: Then, respond with your gifts of time, talent, treasure (money and possessions). .
Time: A tithe, or one tenth of your time would be 8 1/2 hours a week or just one+ hours a day for God's work
Talents and Skills: Please fill out the Talent/Ministry Indicator showing how you wish to use (skills) your talents to serve God's work. Remember that everyone has gifts and talents! Think about what you do well, the kind of work that brings you the most joy in your life what might challenge you most in your walk of faith.
Treasure: Please consider a tithe, one tenth of income, or at least 2 percent of in come as you grow towards a tithe. See the worksheet on the next page to determine your level of giving. When making a pledge, indicate that annual amount on the Treasure/Time Response Card. If you are not comfortable doing so, please make your own personal covenant with God for a specific amount.
